Long-term
relationships with specialized craftspeople were key to this dramatic
transformation of seven en suite hotel rooms in the 75 year-old
former Barclay Hotel into this 3,000 square-foot 20th-floor luxury
condominium and a 2,000 square-foot rental unit. From sensitive
debris removal in an occupied building to tapping a unique source
for barn-salvaged wormy Chestnut for the kitchen cabinetry, the
finished work matched the architect’s vision as precisely
as the sensuous curves of the foyer’s water-cut black granite
mirror the majestic coffered ceiling.
